Sierra Leone Senior National team has completed their second training session ahead of their crunch tie against the Super Eagles Nigeria at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
According to Ibrahim Kamara the head of media of the Sierra Leone Football Association the team is in high spirits to face their Nigerian Counterpart because since they arrived on the 4th of June 2022, the team has been in intensive training to get fit for the crunch tie. Noted that Leone Stars players are highly determined for the match day, one thing that has made the players more determined is the fact that Nigeria is one of the big nations in terms of football in Africa and that has motivated the players.
He added that the past result between the two nations has sparked more hype from the Nigerians that have created more tension that they must win against Sierra Leone the (4-4) all draw is still fresh in their mind and the goalless draw at home in Freetown. He further that Leone Stars players are in any way not going to be complacent of that results and some players especially the new players went to prove a mark of playing for their Country, as some their clubs and parents will be following the match and it will also give them a better opportunity to attract bigger clubs in Europe.
Sierra Leone will be playing their first match against Nigeria on the 9th of June and host Guinea Bissau on the 13th of June 2022 in Conakry Guinea at the General Lansana Conte Stadium.
Leone Stars had their second training with all players present in Abuja on 6th June 2022 in preparation for the AFCON 2023 Qualifiers match against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
In another development, the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has appointed officials for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers between the Super Eagles of Sierra Leone, the referees are Ivorian, Ibrahim Kalilou Traore will take serve as the center referee and will be assisted by three of his compatriots Moukaila Nassam Adam from Ghana will be match commissioner, while Serge Paulin Samuel from Burkina Faso will serve as referee assessor.
