Some Traders at the Bo Central Market on Tuesday went to the office of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party in Bo to register their dissatisfaction over the decision of the Bo Mayor to relocate them to Bo Bomen Dustbin in order to upgrade the Bo central market. They have threatened to stage a sit down strike action if they are relocated.

Speaking to A-Z Newspaper in a downbeat mood, the Vice Chairlady of the Sierra Leone Traders Union, Esther Pendema said that the executive of the Union was shocked to see huge number of their membership on the street of Bo chanting “we nor de gree”.

“We nor de go no sai”, meaning they are not ready to relocate as they prefer where they are currently selling to fend their living.’’

According to her, the mayor of Bo City had engaged the Traders Union executive on upgrading the market to international standard  that will have  a lot of facilities but asserted that the mayor could not tell them the name of the individual or institution ,whether private or not.

She said that their engagement with the mayor was at his house when he was sick but they told the mayor that the Bo Bomen where the council wants to relocate the traders is not fit for human existence.

“We told the mayor to make use of the Bomen to build the modernize market but the mayor said that the people who want to upgrade the market are demanding for the Bo central market, which we are adverse to’’she said.

Madam Pendema went on to say that that while the mayor was on medication, they engaged the administrative wing of the Council and they were  informed by  the Chief Administrator of the Bo City  Council that they are not aware about the upgrading of the Bo Central Market.

Speaking to this medium, the Information, Education and Communication Officer of the Bo City Council, Mac’Ivan Kakpnindi Vandi said that there are two wings of the council; we have the administrative wing and the political wing.

The chief administrator told me that she is not aware about relocation and the upgrading of the Bo Central market.
