Sierra Leone Taekwondo Association has on Friday 8th April donated Taekwondo Martial Art sports kits and some educational materials to the Saint Augustine Agricultural School in Lungi Kafu Bullom chiefdom Portloko District. Items donated were brand new twenty-five sets of full Taekwondo Martial Art kit which includes uniforms and belts, geometry sets, boxes of pencils, and one cartoon notepad. This gesture is part of the new Interim executive body Sierra Leone Taekwondo Association’s efforts to promote the Taekwondo Martial Art sport in the rural areas outside Freetown.

President Sierra Leone Taekwondo Association, Oness Abayomi Johnson, in his statement says this is just the start of our support to saint Augustine school there is more to come as this donation is a way to show that the Taekwondo Martial Art sport is on another level of progress but will start by catching them Young in schools before going national.

Response from the Saint Augustine Agricultural School was full of appreciation for this gesture from Pastor Mikel M Menjor, on behalf of Father Paul and the entire school administration.

He continues to say he hopes that their relationship with Sierra Leone Taekwondo Association will continue to grow to another level as he further assured the Association’s new Interim executive that they would continue to develop the Taekwondo Martial Art sport in their school going forward.

Magnus Ellie, coach of Sierra Leone Taekwondo Association, Portloko District says he is impressed with the devotion and the love from the children for the Taekwondo Martial Art sport as according to him they are learning very fast.

Fatmata Darlington Kamara, a student of the Saint Augustine Agricultural School speaks more on the reason she chooses Taekwondo Martial Art sport is mainly because of its discipline and self-defense which are highly important for females to protect themselves from rape and sexual harassment in today’s world.

This donation from the Sierra Leone Taekwondo Association is part of their Project to take the sport to schools in Freetown and beyond.

After the closure of the Siaka Stevens Stadium, the elite athletes are currently embarking on their everyday training at the Amara Junior Secondary School Compound in preparation for both local and international competitions.
