KOIDU GOVERNMENT HOSPITAL MORTUARY REGISTRAR CAUTIONS ROAD USERS

The registrar Koidu Government Hospital mortuary Mohamed Kaala Koroma has advised residents of Kono District to be careful and sensitive while using the roads.

He made the advice when explaining to this medium about the frequent fatal accident cases that accrued last week in the district as a result of road traffic accident (RTA) and assault which resulted to the mass accumulation of mortal remains at the Koidu government hospital mortuary.

Giving detailed analysis on the sequence of occurrence of the reported fatal accidents, the mortuary registrar explained that Abdul Sow a twenty –seven (27) year old man who was residing at Bendu Town in Sandor Chiefdom died by what he called misadventure and his remains have been laid to rest, twenty-one (21) year old Samuel Komba Student of Assemblies of God secondary school former resident of New London community in Tankoro chiefdom also involved in a road accident and his remains were still at the aforesaid Mortuary including the remains of a young unidentified man who was knocked down to death by a running vehicle on his way to Koidu City from Sewafeh Town.

 He noted that another victim Pa Ansu a fifty-five (55) year  old  man who was fondly called “Argbolo” a former resident  of 555  sport area in Koidu City was also allegedly murdered by unknown people and that his remains have been laid to rest also.  Meanwhile, explaining about the challenges they are faced with at the mortuary, registrar Mohamed Kabala Koroma stated that, lack of fridges to preserve dead bodies and air conditioners in the postmortem room are the major ones among the numerous challenges they are faced with adding that they only have at least four body carrier which are not enough for the smooth running of the KGH mortuary. However, he thanked partners in health (PIH) for its unflinching support, and also called on the government and other humanitarian organizations to assist them with the necessary equipment to cushion some of the highlighted challenges.
