Prosecution witness number one testifies on the alleged murder matter between the State and Ibrahim Sorie Bangura, Inspector Abdul Samura has told the court that during investigation, the accused told them that the deceased Mohamed Massaquoi was the head of a clique group called Coco Money.
Inspector Abdul Samura explained the above shortly after State counsel Yusuf S Koroma addressed the twelve men jury that are swore to hear and determined the matter.
At the witness stand, Inspector Abdul Samura explained the steps he and other police officers undertook to investigate the alleged incident.
Dilating on the statement of the accused Ibrahim Sorie Bangura, Inspector Abdul Samura said the accused during Investigation told him that he is a former labourer working at the Timber Ground at Hastings.
He said the accused also told him that he met and befriend the deceased when serving sentence at the Correctional Center.
“My Lord the accused said before he was convicted, he was standing trial before the late Justice Ademusu for the offence of wounding with intent”, he explained.
In continuation of his Preliminaries, inspector Abdul Samura said the accused told them that on the night of the alleged incident, they were attacked when coming from Alpha Bah at Jui Junction and that the deceased was killed by a clique group known as PMF.
Upon completion, the police witness was cross examined by defense counsel IS Koroma.
In a question put to him, he said he has been investigating for six years but in the above matter he was unable to get all the named suspects.
The next Prosecution witness (PW2) Elizabeth Sawo Massaqoui recognized the accused as the person who went and took her brother at home on the 5th of June 2019 around six in the evening.
She said the accused requested for them to go at Hastings and on the 6th of June 2019, around seven in the morning she found her brother`s remains at Kossoh Town via Jui near a container.
After discovering the corpse, the owner of the container reported at Grafton Police Post and the crime officer rushed to the scene and called Kissy Police Station.
The sister of the deceased said police officers from Kissy Police arrived at the scene and took the remains to the station and later to Connaught mortuary where she identified the body.
She said they registered the body and paid for the post mortem.
“My Lord after the post mortem examination, the body was handed over to them for proper burial. She said she later made statement to the police.
In Cross examination by defense counsel IS Koroma, the sister of the deceased said she cannot recall what he was wearing on that day.
She confirmed that it was the accused that went and called his brother to go to Hastings.
At the end of cross examination, justice AK Musa adjourned the matter to the 10th February 2022 for continuation.
