The Koidu New Sembehun City Council Mayor, His worship Ambassador Komba Mathew Sam has told our correspondent that, he is sick and tired with the inconsistent operations of the energy generation and transmission company (EGTC) and the Energy Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) in Koidu City and Kono district as a whole.
Mayor Sam expressed his dismay over the unstable electricity supply in an interview with our correspondent on the operations of his council in 2021 and plans for 2022 for the overall development of the municipality of Koidu.
When asked to know his take on the apparent inconsistent electricity supply in Kono district and Koidu to be specific, Mayor Sam referred to the said situation as a total headache. He noted that, sometimes in 2021, he issued a press release on the appalling electricity supply, suggesting the immediate transfer of heads of both EGTC and EDSA from Kono District, unfortunately no action was taken by their bosses in Freetown and what he called the frustrating situation still continues in the district.
Mayor Sam further said the response of EGTC and EDSA to the people of Koidu City and Kono District as a whole is nothing to write home about, but offering prays for the completion of the West Africa Power pool connection project to enhance the most needed sustainable electricity supply in the City and the District by extension.
