The Kono District Corona virus Emergency Response Center (DiCOVERC) in collaboration with support from the Central Government and partners including but not limited to Focus 1000 and the International Rescue Committee (IRC) have administered the Covid-19 vaccine to at least four thousand seven hundred and seven (4,707) residents of Kono District, since the inception of the vaccination exercise to the 16th January, 2022.
This is according to the Kono DiCOVERC Public Relations officer (PRO), Tamba Francis Farma. He made the pronouncement on Wednesday 19th January,2022 when talking to our correspondent with regards the present status of Kono District in the fight against the deadly covid-19 pandemic following the omicron outbreak during the festive season with its positive cases recorded in Freetown, Western Urban and four in Kono District.
PRO Farma further revealed that since the virus broke out in Sierra Leone to date Kono District has recorded one hundred and thirteen positive cases, eighty nine discharged and twenty-four fatalities.
Dilating on the on-going covid-19 vaccination exercise within Kono District by focus 1000 Kono District senior coordinator, Patrick Fayia Mansaray revealed that, the world health organization (WHO) has recently approved twelve years as the age limit for the intake of the covid-19 vaccine, this he said has urged them to embark on school to school and community vaccination exercise, to ensure that school going children are vaccinated.
