The Parliament of Sierra Leone has on 20/1/2022 debated and passed into law the Bill entitled “The Sierra Leone Meteorological Agency (Amendment) Act, 2022”.
The Bill seeks to amend the Sierra Leone Meteorological Agency Act, 2017 and to provide for other related matters
Presenting the Bill prior to ratification, the Minister of Environment, Prof. Dr. Foday M.Jaward said the bill seeks to address climate change issues to meet international best practices, adding that the Bill would address challenges of climate change in the country.
Speaking to the motion Hon. Abdul Sulaiman Marray Conteh acknowledged the amendment and heaped praises on the ministry for actually doing the right things to address climate change to meet international best practices.
After the Bill has gone through first and Second readings of the Committee of the Whole House, it was unanimously passed into law with some amendments.
