14yrs-old girl who was allegedly penetrated by Yusuf Kargbo has delivered a bouncing baby boy. The accused person made another appearance before Justice M Bawoh at the Sexual Modern offences court in Freetown on one count charge of Sexual Penetration contrary to the Laws of Sierra Leone.
According to the particulars of offence the accused person, Yusuf Kargbo between the 1st and 31st October 2020 at Freetown in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone engaged in an act of sexual penetration with a child.
Testifying in court fourth prosecution witness (PW4) the victim said she is not a student and that her biological mother had passed away and she was living with her step mother.
Prosecution witness identified the accused person, Yusuf Kargbo.
Prosecution witness only speaks her native tongue (Themne) and had an interpreter who translated the questions to her as she was uneducated and only 14 years of age at the time of the incident.
She said she was sent to collect a stool where she met with the accused person at the entrance of the accused person where he grabbed her and dragged her to the veranda and told the victim to hold on to the keke removed her trousers and her pants and inserted his penis inside of her. Unfortunately, according to the victim he was unable to get assess as the victim said she was too tight and that the accused used soap and rubbed it on his penis and inserted again into her vagina and she saw blood oozing from her vagina and white semen (sperm) from her also oozed from her vaginal area.
She furthermore said that after the accused sexually penetrated her according to the victim the accused inserted a capsule inside of her vagina after he saw that the victim was bleeding and had wounds on her vagina and sent the victim away and gave her Le 8000 to buy fresh up.
She said the accused sexually penetrated her constantly whenever no one was around especially when her sisters left for school.
She went on that the accused gave her stepmother money but that the stepmother refused the money.
She said also that her sister (Kaia Kargbo) was the only one that caught her with the accused person sexually penetrating her and reported the matter to one of her sister’s (gbese) and reported further to the grandmother of the victim and the father and stepmother and that the stepmother.
Prosecution witness said the stepmother took her to the police station and that at the station she was questioned and she explained all what transpired between her and the accused person and was given a medical request form. She said at the hospital upon examination result confirmed that she was (4) months pregnant at the time.
In a cross examination by state counsel as to the pregnancy if she was still pregnant the victim said she delivered a baby boy and that her stepmother has been the one taking care of the child.
The accused person was represented by defence counsel, H. Momoh, and M. Massaquoi whilst the state was represented by P.M Williams.
