After securing an impressive performance against the Desert Foxes of Algeria in the Africa Cup of Nations; one of Sierra Leone must experience leading players Kai Kamara has disclosed that they came to the Africa Cup Nations tournament to compete and they want to keep on competing in the tournament.
Kai Kamara made this statement at the Best West plus hotel where the Stars are camp, he said after the draw against Algeria the nation is expecting much from them and they are aware of it and they want to fix the errors in the training field to face the Elephant of Ivory Coast on Sunday.
He affirmed that they want to put on the same performance or more than what they did against Algeria, as players we watch Ivory Coast game and we know it would be a turf match against opponent but as players, we are ready to take on our counterpart although they have secured three points in their first match that will not distract us.
He said if the national team progresses to the next round it will be a good one for the nation, as we are ready to set a landmark record and looking to get a win or draw.
“All our strikers know how to score goals and I know we are going to make use of our chances come Sunday against Ivory Coast,” he said.
We want to start the match by defending at the back and moving on to attack as a team that is the collectiveness we are looking forward to on Sunday. He called on all Sierra Leoneans to continue to give their supports to the team with togetherness, Oneness, collectiveness both during the field of play and off the field.
According to Amidu Karim, the assistant coach said they are focused and ready to face their counterparts on Sunday as they have watched their opponent’s played against Equatorial Guinea and are going to correct their mistakes made against Algeria.
He affirmed that if the team want to be qualified they need to win against Ivory Coast and we working on our lop holes against Algeria and the postmortem on the past match has been done. He added that we know they are very physical team and quick on the counter, therefore the Leone Stars team will want to stop them from penetrating as that is another area they need to work because goal scoring is keen in every match and they are ready for the task ahead as a team.
