Those that are organizing osusu in the form of collecting monies from people and contribute for another every month, week or days are now becoming a criminal thing. Fatmata Kamara a petty trader on Thursday 13th January 2022 was dragged to Court by five people for chopping thirty eight million Leones in the name of osusu.
The accused appear before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road court No.2 in Freetown on six count ranging from fraudulent conversation contrary to Section 20 (1) (iv) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the Particulars of offence on count 1 to 6, the accused Fatmata Kamara on a date unknown between 7th June 30th November 2021, at Regent Road, the western area in Freetown, fraudulently converted to her own use or benefit certain property; and obtained the sum of thirty eight million Leones from five people Aminata, Kallon, Salamatu Morlai Sesay, Mary Barzey, Joseph Mansaray, Abu Bakarr Kamara and Kaday Koroma entrusted to her for the purpose of safe keeping.
The accused person was unrepresented.
Magistrate Ngegba refused bail and sent the accused person to the Female correctional center special court in Freetown.
ASP Hawa Bah is prosecuting and matter adjourned to the 20th January 2022.
