A five man delegation from the Dock Workers Union of Liberia has on Tuesday, 11th January 2020, honoured the Minister of Information and Communications, Mohamed Rahman Swaray, for his outstanding and exemplary leadership while working as Human Resource Manager at the APM Terminal in Liberia.
The Minister was, among others, presented with a Certificate of Appreciation in the conference room of the Ministry of Information and Communications.
The President of the Liberia Dock Workers Union, Madam Jackie N.W Doe, in her statement expressed profound gratitude to the Information Minister for his great work at the Terminal and the legacy he left which she said is still being felt by workers there.
“Today, Mr. Minister we are here on behalf of the Dock Workers Union of Liberia to express our sincere gratitude for the tremendous work you did during your time at APM Terminal. You put humans first in all of what you did in exercising your duties; for this we remain grateful as we are still enjoying your legacy at the Port,” Madam Doe said.
On his part, the Secretary General of the Union, Mr. Momoh A. Sambola, said they were in Sierra Leone to thank and appreciate Minister Swaray for impacting their lives as workers in the Port.
He added that he was not surprised to see the excellent job Mr Swaray is currently doing as Information Minister in Sierra Leone. “I often read about what you are doing as Information Minister. We are not surprised sir as we are living testimony of your selfless service to humanity,” Mr Sambola averred.
The Honourable Minister of Information and Communications, Mohamed Rahman Swaray, in his response profusely thanked the Union for the bold initiative and wonderful gesture.
Minister Swaray underscored that the delegation leaving Liberia on an all-expenses paid trip to come to Sierra Leone to honor him means the world to him.
“I worked in Liberia for a short period but like they say, a life spent worthy is not measured by the years but by deeds. I really appreciate the fact that my work at the Terminal did not go unnoticed,” the Minister said.
He added: “Sierra Leone and Liberia continue to enjoy good bilateral relationship. I am so elated to have worked and mentored many Liberians during my sojourn in Liberia. In the process I served in an advisory capacity that helped usher in a new dawn particularly in labor and trade unionism. I’m very excited for this recognition.”
The program climaxed with the presentation of certificate, trophy and African regalia in the national colors of the Republic of Liberia to the Honorable Minister of Information and Communications.
