Over alleged Le 700m theft: Casino Manager testifies

The General Manager of Grand Leone Casino, Liwei took the witness stand to testify about how his establishment was robbed off the sum of seven hundred million leones by six accused persons.

All six accused persons on including a forty two years old Hassan Kamara are before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No 1 on three count charges of Conspiracy to commit felony, office breaking and larceny contrary to section 26(1) of the larceny Act 1916.

It was alleged on the face of the charge sheet on count one that on 12th November 2021 at No. 72A Cape Road Aberdeen, the accused persons conspired with other persons unknown to commit felony to office breaking and larceny.

In count two the police alleged that on the same date, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd accused persons being employed as drivers of the establishment conspired with intent to steal the sum of seven hundred million Leones belonging to complainant.

Taking the witness stand and led in evidence by Deputy Superintendent, Isatu Gbassy Fofanah, the General Manager of Grand Leone Casino (Complainant) Liwei recognized 1st,2nd and 3rd accused persons as drivers of the establishment and the 4th, 5th and 6th accused in the matter.

 Manager Liwei said on the 12th of November 2021, at around one in the afternoon he received a phone call from the company’s cashier Vivian. “My Lord, upon receiving the information he decided to make a move”, he explained.

Upon reaching that point, the prosecutor Deputy Superintendent of police Isatu Gbassy Fofanah sought the leave of the Bench for a short adjourned date in order for her to get proper conference with complainant.

In that light, magistrate Sahr Kekura granted her application and adjourned the matter to the 19th of January 2022, for complainant to continue his testimony.
