NASSIT Staff Loses Le74 Million On Fake Land

Jane Kargbo the accused person, who identified herself to Mohamed Lamin Kamara the complainant staff employed by National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), that she has six town plot of land for sale at Baw Baw along the Peninsula. After paying the money to Jane Kargbo, Mohamed Lamin Kamara was hoping to get his land but no way. The matter was heard on Thursday 6th January 2022, before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown.

 Police charged the matter to Court after investigation. The accused made her first appearance on a count of obtaining money by false pretenses contrary to Section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916. According to the charge sheet, the accused Jane Kargbo on diverse dates from July 2020 to July 2021, at Baw Baw Village, Peninsula in Freetown, with intent to defraud the sum of seventy four million Leones from Mohamed Lamin Kamara by falsely pretending that she has a six town plot of land at Baw Baw Village for sale which is known to be false.

 When the charge was put to the accused she pleaded not guilty, in that light the Prosecutor ASP I. G Fofanah, told the Court that she can go on as she did not have any witness, upon that the defense counsel C. Vandy Esq applied for bail pursuant to section 79 2and 3 of the Criminal procedure Act 1965 that the accused person is  a Sierra Leonean resident within this jurisdiction she has reliable sureties who are willing and ready to enter into recognizance on her behalf that she is not a flight risk nor will she interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses

However Magistrate Kekura granted the accused person bail in the sum of two hundred million Leones or one surety in like sum, surety must be resident within this jurisdiction the said surety must produce valid identity card depicting his/her addresses in Freetown.

 Bail must be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.

ASP Gbassy I. Fofanah prosecuting the Matter adjourned to the 17th January 2022.

 In another development, three accused persons Sidique Conteh,  Foday Mansaray and Foday Kaisamba, also made their first appearance before  Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown on the same date for stealing a car and other items from the dwelling house of Honorable Member of Parliament who doubles as the Chief Whip, Hon. Alusine Kanneh.

 The accused are charged on two counts, conspiracy to commit felony contrary to law and larceny dwelling house contrary to Section 13 (a) of the Larceny Act 1916. According to the charge sheet on count 1, all three accused persons, Sidique Conteh, Foday Mansaray and Foday Kaisamba alias Maada, on Friday 17th December 2021, at Mission road, Waterloo, conspired together and with other person’s unknown to commit a felony to wit larceny dwelling house.

 Count 2 state that on the same date and place, entered the dwelling house of Honorable Alusine Kanneh and stole therein one unregistered Mazda vehicle value forty million Leones and other items totaling to sixty nine million four hundred and forty thousand Leones, property of Hon. Alusine Kanneh,

The charges were read to the accused persons and they pleaded not guilty.

However Magistrate Kekura adjourned the matter and sends both accused persons to the male correctional center in Freetown.

 Inspector Kadie M. Taylor prosecuting the matter adjourned to the 17th January 2022.
