Huge Quantity of Marijuana Carted Away in Bo Magistrate Court

Court Officials attached to the Bo Magistrate Court No.1 were on Monday morning, 20 December, 2021 shocked and surprised to discover that a large quantity of marijuana that was in their custody as exhibits were allegedly carted away by thieves who broke into the exhibit store, adjacent the office of the Magistrate.  

Speaking to A-Z Newspaper while on tour around the court on Monday, the court officials said that when they came to the court, they met one of the windows opened, which was believed to be the route that the thieves used to enter inside the court premises.

According to them, they thieves destroyed the ceiling in the court in order to get access to the exhibit store, where the marijuana and other exhibits were kept.

The added that the thieves actually came for the Marijuana as only the marijuana was not seen. The court officials say they have called on the police to come to the scene to do their investigation to ascertain the value of the marijuana taken away.

Magistrate Jusu, later came to the court on motorbike   and was hurriedly led by the Court Clerk   to the window which the thieves used to enter inside the court and the exhibit store.

Magistrate   Jusu said there might be an insider who might have connived with the thieves to break into the court and called for the police to come and do their investigation.

He said that ‘’ I have also called for security presence at night at the Bo Magistrate court. ‘’

Some police officers from the Bo West Police Division came and a snap shot was taken, few questions posed and the police promised to give update to the public about their investigation after it is completed. 

Speaking to this medium, some of the complainants with cases at the Bo Magistrate Court No.1 expressed their dissatisfaction and disappointment over the lack of security presence at the Bo Magistrate Court No.1 at night.

Tutu Sesay, one of the complainants said that: ‘’ the Bo Magistrate court is in a dilapidated state which can be easily vandalized by the thieves which is why there is need for security upgrade especially at night.’’

“We have our case files and the accuse persons can connive with the thieves to destroy evidence in court. I hope our case file was not taken away by the thieves,’’ she stated.
