Magistrate Jusu who is presiding over cases at Bo Magistrate Court No.1 was on Monday visibly seen rejecting with anger to preside over cases related to abusive language.
He told the Court Clerk in the full view of the jam-packed court on Monday, 20 December, 2021 that “I have told Mr. Sivalie not to be allowing case of abusive language.’’
Magistrate Jusu pointed out “We have local chiefs or town chiefs who can handle those petty cases or rather they take it court .No.2. I do not want to see case of that nature brought before me,” he warned
He said that he wants to see more serious matters. He added: “I had warned Mr. Sivalie and he is still not adhering to it. It was because I had initially warned that saw the reduction of such cases but they have started resurfacing.
However, Mr. Sivalie , who is one of the court officials reacted saying, ‘’ My Lord the matter ‘ before you is an old case, dating back September but the Magistrate emphatically rejected it ,saying that ‘’ I do not want to see cases of such nature before me. Let them go to the local chief.’’
One of the lawyers in court, Lawyer Comber supported Magistrate Jusu for that action, noting that ‘’ cases like that should not be brought before Court No.1 or taken to the chiefs at local court.’’ Complainants behind the abuse language cases told this medium that they are victims of injustice and frowned at the suggestion of only seeking redress at court No. 1 or the local court rather than the Magistrate court.
