Abubakar Kamanda made his first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown on five Count charges ranging from obtaining money by false pretenses contrary to section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916
According to the particulars of offence on a date between 11th to 20th April 2019 in Freetown defraud obtained from Gibrilla Kondeh, Kabineh Bangura and Momoh Mansaray the sum sixty Eight million Leones(68,000,000) with the pretext of clearing a container and pay back the money same to be false.
The charges were read and explained to the accused person and pleaded not guilty.
First Prosecution witness (PW1), Kabineh Bangura a farmer said he recognized the accused through his nephew one Gibrilla Kondeh and recall a date between 11th and 20th April 2019 something transpired between himself and the accused person.
He said the accused person called to informed him that he has diesel in Rutile so if he has money he should lend him and that after he must have sold the diesel he will refund the money to him with interest. At this point the matter was adjourned for receipt to be tendered.
The defence counsel M. S Koroma applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused person, but was refused. Accused person remanded at the male correctional center in Freetown.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Ibrahim S Mansaray prosecuting the matter, and has been adjourned to the 23rd December 2021.
