SLP DECLARED LAJ WANTED -LE 5,000,000m for information on his whereabout

The Inspector General of Police Dr. Ambrose Sovula has on Thursday the 16th December 2021, declared one of Sierra Leone’s popular musical artists commonly known as Alhaji Amadu Bah alias LAJ wanted for publically insulting a female journalist.

 A compensation fee of five million Leones (LE 5,000,000) has been put aside by the Inspector General of Police for anybody who provides information that may lead to the arrest of LAJ.

Addressing galaxy of Journalists in a press conference, the Inspector General of Police Dr. Ambrose Sovula affirmed that he has sanctioned the arrest and investigation of LAJ for using motherly invectives on a female journalist. He added that such insulting conduct is unacceptable to the leadership of the Sierra Leone Police.

  IG Sovula also affirmed that LAJ is currently on the run but the Police is investigating him. He disclosed that they have searched for him, used his telephone to reach him to come and explain as to the reason he used such motherly invectives on Station Manager of Radio 98.1 but to no avail.

Dr. Sovula also intimated the press that he has directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to issue an arrest warrant for LAJ of which he has asked the Assistance Commissioner of Police (Media One) to declare him wanted.

“I have also allocated the sum of five million Leones (LE 5,000,000)  for someone who may provide information that may lead to the arrest of the LAJ and be charged to court”,  he said.

IG Sovula encouraged the general public to give respect to women adding that, women are wives and mothers to men of which such insulting conduct is condemnable to the Sierra Leone Police.

 “LAJ is being declared wanted for the kind of words he used at a female journalist at 98.1. I could not bear to listen that insult twice and I almost shaded tears”.

Dr. Sovula also urged people to understand that the Mid-Term census is a process that is ongoing and that anybody refusing to be counted is a crime.  He said Despite the legal person of the Sierra Leone Police has explained the legal implications of refusing to be counted in the ongoing census, he said people are still undermining and obstructing the process.  The Inspector General of Police also informed that the police have made some arrests of people who have been making audios and videos inciting other people not to participate in the Mid-Term census.

He assured that all arrested persons have been investigated and will be charged to court.  He advised citizens to be law abiding noting that,  the Mid-Term Census is not something people will make comical as  census informs the nation about the actual population of the country for national development.

 He reminded that incitement is an indictable offence which will take someone to high court.

He concluded by sending a strong worded warning to those  who are inciting and obstructing the census process to desist or else, the Sierra Leone Police will continue to hunt them down.
