Government Municipal Secondary School which was established by Mayor Constance Cummings John in 1966 to accommodate pupils in and outside the Kissy community is presently in dire need of more classrooms and approved teachers.

Principal of the senior Secondary School, Martin Moore Musa informed A-Z newspaper during an exclusive interview that two teachers had been transferred and two others went for greener pasture in the civil service.

He said they need five teachers to fill the gap by calling for the recruitments of those teachers who have been doing extremely well without pin codes.

“The five unpin coded teachers we have with us have performed well, there is need for the government to recruit them and bring them onboard”, Mr. Musa submitted.

According to one of the teachers, he has been teaching effectively for the past years without pin code. He said it has not been easy to get to work, sometimes he has to walk from his house to the school, he informed this medium.

The Principal said there is surge in the population size of the senior school amounting to over two thousand pupils.

He said with this increment, space and furniture are key issues the school is currently facing. He pointed out that there is a plot of land readily available for expansion but the school lacks the needed resources to construct more classrooms on the land inside the school compound.

Having celebrated the 55th anniversary of the school, pupils have expressed the need for the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh to look into the challenges the school faces.

The school, according to community people, has been doing well in terms of external exams and discipline.
