Police witness Testifies against Sport Journalist

In the ongoing alleged incitement matter between Mohamed Alie Conteh and the Government of Sierra Leone; first prosecution witnesses has on the 14th December, 2021 testified against Sport Journalist in Court.

27yrs old Mohamed Alie Conteh made his Second appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown.

The accused was before the Court on Three Count Charges of incitement Contrary to law, insulting Conduct Contrary to Section 3 (1) of the public order Act No.46 of 1965 and sending threatening representation Contrary to Section 3 (iii) of the public order Act No .46 of 1965.

According to the particulars of Offense on Wednesday 15th September 2021 at Makeni in the Bombali Judicial District the Northern part of Sierra Leone did use inciting words to the public to cause the breach of the peace against the Government of Sierra Leone and on count two at the same place did use insulting words against Abdul Rahman Sankoh and on Count three the accused person did send threatening representation to Abdul Rahman Sankoh.

First Prosecution witnesses (PW1)  Police inspector Abdul Rahman Sankoh  attached to the Regional media  and public relations unit from the East Region said he knew the accused and  recalled the 25th of September 2021, while on   duty one of his friend Mr.  Conteh called and informed him that there was and audios going in social media about him. Witness said he listened to the said audios and heard his name was mentioned where he did some radio programs as a radio officer at 95.3 Mankeh and Hope FM. 93.3.  He said it was about   informing member of the public base on the emergency national delegated program of the all People congress party (APC).

He stated that they did not want to see any secret society performance during the said event and this brought about the accused person releasing the audios mentioning his name; with insulting words and also went on insulting the secret society and commanding them to come out and ignore the Sierra Leone police.

He further told the court that he forwarded the said Audios to his regional commander and base on that investigation was mounted by the Criminal Investigation Department upon which he was asked to make statements.

The prosecutor requested for an adjournment to have proper conference with the witness Inspector Kadie Taylor.  Matter adjourned to the 15th December,2021  for further hearing.
