Civil Society Youth Forum, Sierra Leone Adolescent Girls Network in collaboration with other civil society organizations has completed a 16 days of activism in grand style in Bo on Friday on Combating gender-based violence that has been a central concern to government and charity organizations.
According to the National Coordinator of the Civil Society Forum, Rassie Bah, the effort of these actors is laudable and yielding dividend. The many campaigns, awareness raising and women’s empowerment programmes have awakened the souls of victims of gender-based violence to protect and defend their rights.
She added that “such efforts have equally brought the perpetrators to the forefront of advocacy and campaign, committing to not use the social norms, beliefs and values as a prerequisite to justify their negative actions. This achievement clearly demonstrates the reason why the 16 days of activism was set aside.”
“In marking the end of this intense period of activism, CASE SALONE, Civil Society Youth Forum and over 20 organizations working on human rights paraded the street of Bo in orange cloth, accompanied by traditional musical dancing troupe. The activity thus attracted participants who converged at the Bo Clock Tower Adami Project and paraded to CASE SALONE office to get speeches and declarations.” Madam Bah said.
End gender-based violence now, dignify humanity and many more were the expression that covered the placards that were held by participants.
