The Sierra Leone Taekwondo Federation has on the 10th December 2021 received training kits, from its international partners (West Africa Taekwondo Federation).
According to Oness Abayomi Johnson the President of Sierra Leone Taekwondo Federation, said
“We receive these training kits from our international partners to help the federation improve the sports in the country.”
He added that the training kits have been stock at the Queen Elizabeth Quay II for Over two-three years only now we were able to get them out. Insufficient training equipment has been a serious challenge for us over the years but with the arrival of these we are sure of taking the Sports across the Country.
He further that the Federation with support from the National Olympic Solidarity that have just ended training for twenty fours coaches on level two training to empower them with technical knowledge of sports, the federation aims to take the game to Schools to catch them young and with the training of the twenty-four coaches with significantly in spreading the sports in the Country.
Oness Abayomi Johnson said they only have a training center that is not spacious to accommodate large number of people in terms of training and learning the basics of Taekwondo skills, he, therefore, called on the Government, the Cooperate entity, and NGOs to help them have their training facility on their own.
Sierra Leone Taekwondo Federation is among the Sporting disciplines that have been outstanding in representing the Country at the International level and their back to School Projects is still in course, because that is the area the President and Executive want to lay more premiums to attract new people who may have interest in the Sports.
