Chief Minister Jacob Jusu Sheriff has touched based with the census conducting entity, Statistics Sierra Leone to verify the state of preparedness for planned mid-term census slated for December 10th.
The Statistic General, Prof Osman Alimamy Sankoh has dispelled suggestion of fraud in the process saying “there will be no more forgery of data.”
This comment of the Statistic General is a reminder that the past census has been tainted with fraud.
Tomorrow, Thursday 9th December has been declared as the 9th of Census.
The World Bank is working with Sierra Leone to help produce quality and credible data that will contribute to the attainment of the national development goals of the country
A statement issued by the World Bank earlier this year on the census states that:
“World Bank support for statistical capacity building and open data initiatives is provided in response to high demand by our member countries, their constituents, and our development partners across the globe. Better data is fundamental to making the right policy decisions that help reduce poverty.
From this statement all conspiracy theory about the intent of the census must be discarded where good faith exists, according to dispassionate political commentators.
This press has gathered from many Sierra Leoneans based on vox pop conducted that they are willing to be counted.
