Making is maiden visit to the Country after his meritorious victory in the Sierra Leone Peoples’ Party North American (SLPPNA) Region, the Chairman of the SLPPNA Region Desmond Pessima has on Monday the 6th December 2021, received a red carpet welcome from youths and women of the Sierra Leone People’s Party.
Addressing the jubilant supporters at the Sea Bird Express Murray Town, Chairman Pessima expressed profound thanks and appreciation to the supporters for according him such an unprecedented welcome. He admonished that for the SLPPNA Region to move forward they must fight very hard.
Chairman Pessima disclosed that when he found himself in North America, he decided not to take the back sit so that the party will not die in that part of the world. He intimated the gathering that North America is divided into Chapters of which he remains the head of one of the chapters.
He added that he started as a Public Relations Officer in the SLPPNA.
Having served the SLPPNA diligently, Chairman Pessima also disclosed that people saw the good work he was doing which caused them to encourage him to lead the party in that part of the world.
Heeding to the clarion call from the people, Desmond Pessima also disclosed that he contested to be the regional chairman and won by a landslide margin. He informed that he got 102 delegate votes out of the total 158 delegates.
Chairman Pessima continued that the SLPPNA endorsed his leadership adding that, for a candidate to have gotten that number shows that the people believe in him which is the more reason they overwhelmingly voted him.
He noted that his election shows that he has the capacity to lead the region efficaciously by humbling himself to work for the people.
“The true heroes are the people who have the power in their hands and they decided to give the power to someone as their leader. You are the heroes and you deserve this welcome. My Brothers and Sisters, we have huge prospect ahead of us but we just need to believe in the country and have the supporting attitude just like you have shown to me”, he admonished.
Chairman Pessima encouraged the gathering to put all hands together and join the good work of the president so that the country will develop. He also admonished those who believe in pulling Down syndrome of the government and those who sabotage the government through electricity theft, that they are degenerating the growth of the country.
He advised the young people to dissociate themselves from political gimmicks and support President Bio’ s developmental vision especially the Human Capital Development Agenda. He concluded by assuring that the red carpet welcome accorded him will serve as a motivation to the SLPPNA in order to grow more love for the party.
The SLPPNA Women’s Leader Aminata Saidu Amara also appreciated the red carpet welcome Sierra Leoneans accorded Chairman Pessima.
She confessed that they believed in Chairman Pessima which is the more reason they elected him to lead them. Aminata Amara added that the SLPPNA now has the strongest Women’s wing than ever. She disclosed that Chairman Pessima will oblige the Women’s Leader to comprehensively report on the welfare of the Women, after their weekly meetings. Madam Aminata concluded that they don’t have too many agenda other than the national agenda of President Bio.
