The Western Area Football Association is set to commence an international tournament for both U-12 players and a U-15 tournament from the 10th of December to 19th December 2021 at the Siaka Stevens Stadium and S.S.Camp playing arena.
According to the organizer’s the International tournament is set to involve (8) teams in the tournaments as two teams will be coming from Guinea and Liberia respectively.
According to Gerald Turner, public relations officer said they are rolling out the tournament with the little money in their possession. The teams taking part in this tournament are teams that have just taken part in the concluded U-15 tournament, except the two foreign teams Guinea and Liberia.
He affirmed that they have held meetings with the participating teams as to the formats of the tournament, and the issues of age category have been discussed with the clubs, match venue has been agreed and two matches will be played in a day.
Mr. Turner said “If Leone Stars to get better players to represent the National has to be from the grassroots, and as organizers, they start catching them right from that Level and to also have coaches in the National U-15 team to scouts players at the level”.
In the area of sponsorship, he said they are still talks with Orange Mobile Company who has shown interest but yet to make any formal approach but still looking to get more sponsored.
All matches that will be playing have to be streamed live on various social media platforms
