PRESIDENT JULIUS MAADA BIO TROPHY KICKS-OFF

The second edition of President Julius Maadio Bio Trophy has on Sunday 27th November 2021 kick-off at the Saika Stevens Stadium as Mountain City Community and Leicester City Community kick off with the opening ceremony.

Joseph Sesay gets the opening goal for Mountain City in five minutes of play and he scored the goal through a defensive lapse from the defense of Leicester City.

It takes two minutes for Leicester City to get the equalizing goal as Ibrahim Kamara scored the goal for Leicester City Community, in the second half of play Suliman Bah get a for Mountain City Community but miss the spot-kick, as the goal-Keeper for Leicester City was outstanding to deny him the golden opportunity, but the team of Mountain City Community continues to fight an at end of the closing stages they get the desired goal that seals their to the next round as they defeated Leicester City by two goals to one (2-1).

According to Sam Johnson the head of Leicester City Community, they feel disappointed to lose the match, it all boils down to lack of concentration that causes the defeats but they go back and prepare for another Tournament.

 Even though he blasts the officials for poor Officiating of the match.

Charlie Wright the head coach of Mountain City said they are happy as a team to get their first win in the tournament and they are looking forward to continuing with more wins because of all the teams in the tournament.

He added by calling on supporters to rally behind the team and give their best support.

According to David Momoh, the Tournament is a nationwide tournament that comprises ninety-six teams drawn from across the country.

 The Western area has 32 two teams that will compete with each other and four teams will progress to the national finals level, and for the Provincials team three will be coming from that end will qualify to the National level

He affirmed that all teams from the National level will face each other and progress straight to the quarter-final to the semifinals and finals.

“On behalf of the Palm Tree, I want to welcome all football fans to the opening ceremony of the President Julius Maada Bio Trophy 2020/2021 Editions”,Mr Momoh said.

During the opening ceremony, the Palm Tree Foundation distributed three Footballs, Jersey, and socks to each of the 32 two communities that are going to take part in the first round of the President Julius Maada Bio Trophy.

Kelefila Stevens the Director of Participation at the National Sports Authority said this is the dream of the President to see that all Youths are involved in Sports.

 He thanked the organizers that brought up the initiative to empower community football at its best.

 He encouraged all the Youth to use Sports as an alternative way to ply their career if their education is not fourth coming as Sports can change people lives.

The other matches will continue on Thursday at two different venues across the Western Area as New England will welcome Dwazark Community at the Parade grounds while the Looking town Community will host Kissy Community.
