Case of Theft Committed to High Court

An office Cleaner, Francis Bangura has been committed to the High Court of Sierra Leone by Magistrate Isata Sellu Tucker of Court No 3 Pademba Road, for stealing property worth over one hundred and fifty six million Leones. The accused is before Magistrate Isata Sellu Tucker on a count of Larceny Contrary to Section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916. According to the charge sheet, the accused Francis Bangura on Saturday 18 September 2021, at No. 9th Ibrahim Drive, Hill Station, Freetown, did stole the sum of forty million Leones, 2 black magic camera, 2 drones, 2 HTC mobile phones, and 1 I phone all to the total value of one hundred and fifty six million Leones, property of James Victor Kamara Yovonie.

The accused person pleaded guilty of stealing the forty million Leones, but denied stealing the other items. Magistrate Isata Sellu Tucker, said there is evidence against him and the Prosecution team lead by Sergeant 7224 Songo J. K adduced sufficient evidence against the accused which she therefore committing the matter to High Court for proper trial.

However, Magistrate Isata Sellu Tucker granted the accused person bail in the sum of two hundred thousand Leones or two sureties in like sum sureties must be resident within this jurisdiction one surety must be employed he/she must produce valid identity card depicting his/her address in Freetown bail to be  approved by the Deputy Acting Registrar.
