On alleged Wounding: 23yrs old granted 50m bail

23yrs old Ishmael Jalloh made another appearance before Magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on three count charges to wit Wounding with intent contrary to section 18 of the offences against the person Act 1861, Wounding contrary to section 20 of the offences against the person Act 1861 and assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to section 47 of the offences against the person Act 1861.

According to the particulars of offence on Sunday 20th October 2021 at Dundas Street the western area in Freetown maliciously wounded David Kargbo with intent to do him grievous bodily harm and assaulted the said complainant.

First Prosecution witness (PW1) David Kargbo a Disc joker said he recognized the accused person and recalled on the 10th October 2021, that something transpired between himself and the accused person.  He said at 4am he came outside and met the accused person in physical fight, and made attempt to settle the matter.  He said in the process of coiling the situation the accused person pushed and hit his head on a vehicle and became unconscious. Later, he saw himself lying at the Connaught hospital where he was treated and made report to the police station. Statements were obtained from him and his witnesses.

Lawyer representing the accused person, M. Sheriff applied for bail on behalf of the accused person pursuant to section 79 (2) of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965 that the accused person is a Sierra Leonean resident within this jurisdiction that he has reliable sureties who are willing and ready to enter into recognizance on his behalf and he is not a flight risk.

However, Magistrate Gogra granted the accused person bail in the sum of fifty million Leones bail or two sureties in like sum sureties to be resident within the western area sureties to produce valid identity card depicting his/her addresses in Freetown on surety must be employed and to produce valid passport and the said surety to be above fifty years old bail to be approved by the Deputy Acting Registrar.

 2021 Sergeant 48235 Kebbie K Thoronka prosecuting the matter, and has been adjourned to the 22nd November 2021.
