Mohamed Massaquoi has on the 29th October, 2021 made another appearance before Magistrate Hadiru K Daboh of Ross Road Court No.3 on one count charge to wit Obtaining money by fraud other than false pretenses contrary to section 13 of the debtors Act 1869.
According to the charge sheet sometimes in July 2021 at No.50 Bai Bureh Road in Freetown with intent to defraud obtained credit from Abdulai Sahid Tencoid Conteh in the sum of four million Leones (4,000,000) for two speakers, one plasma, and one DVD by falsely pretending that you have for sale knowing same to be false.
First Prosecution witness, Abdulai Sahid Tencoid Conteh, a lecturer at Freetown teachers college and a broadcaster at (SLBC) said he recognized the accused person as his tenant and through the boss of the accused person.
Witness said he recalled sometimes in July 2021 something transpired between himself and the accused person that he went to the shop were the accused person worked and bought some items from his boss on his way home the accused person confronted him. The accused person said to him that the items brought from the shop are not product, while witness told him that he have two speakers at home that cost four million Leones he paid the accused person the money he loan him as his tenant.
Since then he did not see him and he reported the matter to his superior in his office and therefore take legal action against him.
The witness said the accused person failed to return his money. The witness was cross examined by Lawyer Komba Kanu and renewed his bail application magistrate Daboh granted the accused person bail in the sum of twenty million Leones or one surety in like sum surety must be elderly and responsible citizen surety must produce his/her identity card depicting his address in Freetown to be approved by the Deputy Acting Registrar
The complainant was represented by Lawyer Michaela P. George, and matter adjourned to the 12th November 2021.
