Pupils Remanded For Malicious Damage

Alusine Daramy, Alhassan Sankoh, Mohamed Saidu Bah, James Koroma, Mohamed Kargbo, Alie Mansaray and Mohamed Alpha Sesay made their first appearance before Magistrate Hadiru K Daboh of Ross Road Court No.3 in Freetown on four courts charges to wit two counts of malicious damage, contrary to section 51 of the malicious damage Act 1861, throwing missiles contrary to section 6 of the public order Act No.40 of 1965, Riotous conduct contrary to Section 12 of the public order Act No.4 of 1965

According to the particulars of offence on Thursday 21st October 2021 at Portee Junction, Wellington the western area in Freetown maliciously damage the front and back wind screen of school bus with registration number 048 value property of Sierra Leone government whilst in control of Mohamed Papa Conteh and on the same date maliciously damaged the side glass of Altima vehicle with registration number APO 293 valued at one million five hundred thousand Leones property of Abu Kamara on the said date behaved in a riotous manner and was found throwing missiles.

The charges were read to the accused persons and they pleaded not guilty

Randy S Bangura, K. Yillah, A.B Moisa, A. Bangura, and Michaella P George, the Lead counsel A.B Moisa applied for bail on behalf of the accused persons that they are Sierra Leoneans most particularly pupils from the Methodist boys high school and the Sierra Leone Muslim Congress and the accused persons are currently sitting the first term exam.

He said The police did a random check on the boys and have found out that they are not a flight risk and they have reliable sureties who are willing and ready to enter into recognizance on their behalf and they will always make themselves available when needed by the court and they will not interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses.

 He made his application pursuant to section 79 sub section 2 and 3 of criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965.

After his submission he also objected to count two that they did aware of such offence and the accused person be discharge on count two the said submission was granted by Magistrate Daboh and he refused bail the accused persons was sent to the male correctional center in Freetown matter adjourned to the 28th October 2021 Sergeant 7891 M.M George prosecuting the Matter.
