Police Testifies Against Civilian on EDSA Theft

The investigator in the matter between the Inspector General of police and Samuel Tucker, detective sergeant 8904 Solomon Amadu has narrated  the steps he undertook to investigate the accused who was in court on allegations of electricity supply theft.

The accused Samuel Tucker was arraigned before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No 2 for Preliminary Investigation on two count charges of illegal Abstraction of Electricity Supply and illegal consumption of Electricity Supply.

Led in evidence by Assistant Superintendent of police Hawa Bah, the witness detective sergeant 8904 Solomon Amadu attached to the Criminal Investigation Department EDSA syndicate recognized the accused.

He said on Friday 17th September 2021, he was on duty when members of the presidential task force headed by a technician Joshua Abass Koroma arrested and brought in the accused on allegation of electricity Abstraction.

He said statement was obtained from witnesses and the accused.

Explaining further, the statement of the accused was witnessed by sergeant 8571 Ahmed Sheriff.

He said on Saturday 18 September, the accused was charged with the offenses of illegal Abstraction of Electricity Supply, and illegal consumption of Electricity Supply.

Cross examined by defense counsel J Williams, the witness said he did not visited the crime scene and what was presented before him by the task force was just an allegation.

Looking at the form presented to him by defense counsel, the witness confirmed that the accused is a customer.

Cross examine him on the two count charges he levied on the accused, the witness told the court he did not understand the charges because they are technical terms.

At the end of the cross examination, Magistrate Mark Ngegba adjourned the matter to 22nd of October 2021 for the next witness to be dock.
