DESTRUCTION OF EDSA AND EGTC FACILITIES IN KOIDU CITY IS POLITICALLY MOTIVATED -DEPUTY MINISTER OF WORKS AND PUBLIC ASSETS

The Deputy Minister  of Works and Public Assets Hon. Philip  Tetehma Tondoneh who also double as the ruling Sierra Leone people’s  Party (SLPP) Eastern  regional Chairman has told  this medium that the reported destructions on the  555 Spot and old Power  house sub- station transformers  copper cables in the municipality of Koidu is a politically  motivated  act geared towards sabotaging the  SLPP led government.

 Minister Tondoneh made the statement in an interview   with A-Z after a fact finding visit, he and other stakeholders made to the management of the Energy Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) Kono office in relation to the aforesaid destructions on the said facilities, which has left the city of Koidu in a total blackout.

The  team including members of the Kono District Resource  Group and SLPP stakeholders , Hon. Philip  Tetema Tondoneh  strongly  condemned the  said act and therefore  assured all and sundry especially  electricity consumers  of their  unflinching  supports to the Sierra Leone Police in making sure that the unscrupulous  individuals  responsible for  the  reported menace face the wrath of the law.

Meanwhile,  as at 15 hours GMT on Monday 4th October, 2021 the Tankoro Police  Local Unit Commander (LUC) Superintendent  Franklyn Mbawoh  told this medium that they had at least six suspects including two private security  officers and  four EDSA  senior staff in their custody helping them in their  investigations in to the alleged destruction  matters.
