The recent by election in a presumed opposition stronghold of Koinadugu has indicated huge loss of vote in the region of twenty thousand votes.
Evidence of this assertion is in the recently released NEC result.
Whereas in the 2018 result APC scored 40, 210, in this by election the party scored 20, 435. It shows that the party has dropped by 20,000 votes.
Also reflected in the analysis is that Sierra Leone Peoples Party scored 13,410 but in the recent by election 13,061 with a differential of 349.
Political pundits say the result paints an ominous sign for the opposition and ups the chances of the ruling party to retain power.
Political commentators say the inroads that the ruling party is making in opposition stronghold are not evident in figures coming the other way round.
