A 32-man delegation has departed Freetown on the 6th October, 2021 to honor the second leg tie between the Sierra Leone Female U-20 and the Guinea Female U-20 in Monrovia, Liberia in the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.
Sierra Leone secured a 1-0 win away in the first leg in Dakar, Senegal last week and hope to progress to the next rounds if they hold on to their one nil lead.
The match will be played on Saturday 9th October, 2021 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia, because CAF has banned all the venues in Sierra Leone as they did not meet FIFA standard to host international matches.
Before the National U-20 side departure to Liberia there was serious controversy break out in the training camp that has to do with players allowances for the last match in the first leg tie against Guinea in Senegal Dakar.
According to a Leaked audio from the female national U-20 team it was leaked that the Ladies were intimidated about their allowance that was supposed to being given them by the Football Association.
The Leaked Audio states that:
” This time around there is no room to plead with a player to turn up for training if anybody failed to so then let that player just say good bye to his playing career in Sierra Leone.”
The Audio further that any player who has issues with money should reports to the team Manager but not to stage a strike action against SLFA as there is no room to take such from any player (s).
According to the team manager of the female national U-20 side, Musu Pele Bangura said the issue at hand is not about players but Management and that the players need to focus on their upcoming. Madam Bangura cautioned the players not to take up issues of money as it not professional.
Musu Pele Bangura reflected that during their playing time they do not request for money rather their performances and results speaks for them, and that their name still continue to measure up when it comes to female football development in the country.
