The Diakonia College of Theology situated at 14 Taylor Street Wellington, has on Saturday the 2nd of October, held its first graduation ceremony for the conferment of diplomas and certificates to over forty (40) graduands.
The graduands did their studies in various courses such as certificates in Christian leadership and Bible interpretation, Diplomas in Applied Theology.
The founder and Biblical Exegetist of the Diakonia College of Theology Pastor Joseph Conteh, said the Diakonia College of Theological is celebration the graduands for their hard work having sleepless night, doing many assignments and term papers for the completion of a three years course
“This is the day we want to acknowledge and celebrate for the good work you have done and what you have achieved. Secondly, this ceremony has the propensity to lead to the transformation of the Diakonia College of Theological College moving from not just training leaders in Church, but also enhancing and sharpening the skills and craft man-ship of the art and science of interpretation with specific reference to general over seers”, said Pastor Conteh.
Pastor Conteh also disclosed that Diakonia College of Theological was fortunate by the mercy and inspiration of its able board, in order to commence a programme which he referred to as Christian leadership in biblical interpretation training. He added that the training was solely prepared for general over seers, superintendents, and leaders that are controlling, managing, and running theological matters.
He expressed that the College is so much graced to have got those leaders and general over seers pushing for a continuation of such programmes so that other leaders will replicate. He concluded by describing the occasion as a very unique and auspicious one.
On his part, Cyril Juxon Smith said the ceremony brought together two main aspects which is the spiritual and the academic aspects. He also intimated that the Diakonia College of Theology trains leaders for the church in the use of the word of God and interpretation of scriptures. He added that the College also provides an academic environment for the students in order to help them administer the word of God.
In his keynote address, the RT. Hon. Saa Emerson Lamina expressed his profound thanks and felicitation to the leadership of the Diakonia College of Theology for given him the opportunity to serve as the guest speaker of what he described as an auspicious occasion.
He encouraged the graduands to accelerate their quest for acknowledge noting that, success does not come so easy. He said the word success is mentioned in the bible only twice which means, it is very difficult to achieve success of which he encouraged the graduands not to relent in their academic sojourn.
Saa Emerson Lamina also intimated that the choice made by the graduands will definitely prove their final destiny. He referenced that, Timothy was a young overseer in his days but commanded many people including elders due to his studious life. He said many Christians are limited in their circular world because of their limited study life. He concluded by encouraging his Christian friends not to limit themselves in terms of acquiring knowledge.
The mission of the Diakonia College of Theology is to equip faithful leaders for the work of the ministry by teaching spiritual truths, imparting biblical knowledge, providing practical ministry opportunities and grounding message in God’s love through grace.
The College aims at providing leaders with accurate instruction in the word of God in an academic environment which is compatible with gaining thorough knowledge of God. The Goal of the Diakonia College of Theology is to prepare leaders to; exegetically interpret scriptures by the application of fundamental, dispensational, grammatical and hermeneutical principles among others.
