NEC TO TALLY KOINADUGU LOCAL COUNCIL ELECTIONS IN FRETOWN

The National electoral Commission (NEC) on Saturday 2nd October conducted a local council bye election for district Chairperson and councilor for ward 155 in Koinadugu District.

Tallying of results started on Sunday 3rd October 2021 at the Kabala Community Centre, Makeni Road Kabala Town. The process was suspended after a heightened security situation during the tallying of election results.

NEC has therefore informed the general public that Political parties, election observers and the general public are hereby informed that the commission will resume the tallying process on Tuesday 5th October 2021, 11am at the Commissions National data center  15 Industrial Estate Wellington, Freetown.

According to NEC Four representatives from both the All Peoples Congress (APC) and the Sierra Leone people’s Party (SLPP) will be allowed to witness the tallying process. Accredited electoral observers and the media for the said bye election are also invited.

The Commission therefore assures all elections observers, political parties and the general public that it will conduct the tallying process in a transparent and credible manner and will subsequently announce the provisional and the certified election results.
