NEC Declares Date for Local Council Bye- Election in Kenema, Kono

As part of its mandates to organize elections, the National Electoral Commission in a press release dated 21st September, 2021 declared dates for Local Council Bye Election in Ward 069 in Kenema and Ward 091 in Kono district council.

According to the release, the 13th November, 2021 has been declared for local council elections for both Kenema and Kono district respectively. For Kenema district, the Chief Administrator of Kenema district notified the commission as a result leave of absence on the part of Councilor Alfred Ndorwa Barnett of Ward 069, constituency 021, Kenema district who left the district for further studies.

While the commission received information for Ward 091 in Kono district about the death of the late Councilor Tamba John Trye of constituency 027, whose death occurred on the 28th August, 2021. The release also issued dates for nomination of candidates which will be on the 12th and 13th October, 2021 at the regional NEC offices in both Kono and Kenema respectively. A sum of one million Leones (Le 1,000,000.00) as candidature fee to be paid to the district returning officer.
