Fifth prosecution witness in the ongoing preliminary investigation into the alleged illegal importation of arms and ammunitions, Foday Fofanah Unstuffing officer at the Quay has on the 20th September 2021, testified against Honorable Emmanuel Saidu Conteh and two others facing charges of illegal importation of arms and ammunitions and aiding and abetting charges.
PW 5 highlighted some his duties that he supervisor things in any container; inspect and put them in the container after inspection and his also responsible for examined any car that come in to the Quay.
He recalled the 2nd July 2021 at the Quay when one Abdul Fatta Rahman called his attention that he has seen some things inside one gray Nissan pathfinder vehicle and that at the back of the seat he also saw arms and ammunition which he himself said he made sure that it was arms and ammunition.
He further that he called Mr. Sannoh the custom officer to attention who also came and saw the thing and then “we called Munna the intelligent officer at the Quay after Mr. Munna, Mr. Sannoh instructor, Mr. Sheriff who is the Consignee agent, and myself;” Mr. Muana to took the arms and ammunition together with the witness and put them in one green bag.
Defence Lawyer Emmanuel Teddy Koroma in his cross examination said as part of your mandate you are responsible for supervise the Fourth prosecution witness Abdul Fatta Rahman who is the Roro officers the witness said yes and how many Roro officers work on a daily basis the witness said two per day.
Defense counsel asked the witness that the vehicle in question was examined by Abdul Fatta Rahman the witness said yes.
Lawyer Emmanuel Teddy Koroma asked at the scene where the vehicle was examined how many people you met the witness said he met two people; Musa and Fatta Rahman. Lawyer Koroma said would you be surprised that Fatta Rahman said he was the only person that examined the vehicle the witness said he will be surprise.
And lawyer Koroma ask the witness if he has ever seen a pistol the witness said no.
Lawyer Jessie M Jengo representing the second accused person put to the witness that on the 8th of September 2021 said the court called your attention to admonish you but you said u do not know the accused persons.
Lawyer Jengo said you as supervisor your duty is to make sure nothing goes wrong and your attention will be needed only when they discovered arms and ammunition the witness said yes. Many other questions were put to the witness.
Magistrate Sahr Kekura adjourned the matter to the 27th September 2021 for further cross examination by Lawyer Lansana Dumbuya.
