Female Student Declares for Njala Student Union President

 A third year Political Science Students at Njala University, Iye Abu has declared to run for the position of President in the forthcoming Njala Student Union elections at Bo Campus. She was the deputy information minister under the outgoing President Ismael Koroma.

Speaking to A-Z Newspaper, Ms. Abu said that she is determined to come and change the narrative of student unionism and will continue with the good work of her predecessor. 

Miss Abu started her secondary school at Queen of the Rosary Secondary School and continued later at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School in Bo and became the head girl of the school in 2017. The presidential hopeful entered Njala University in 2018 to  pursue a bachelor’s degree in Political Science  and her academic performance has been excellent, being on the dean’s list from first year with the best grade point, and is  currently the  President of the Political  Science Students  Association.

She nurtured the ambition to become a leader since she was growing up. Iye Abu is also the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Potential Ladies Association that has touched the lives of many Sierra Leoneans, particularly those vulnerable in the society with special preference to the women and girls. She is currently a journalist working for Classic Radio 99.7FM in Bo.

If given the opportunity to lead Njala University, Bo Campus, she will join Adama Sillah of Fourah Bay College to lead the two prominent universities as female student union Presidents.
