Kamboi Eagles Football Club has in a Press release dated 2 September 2021 appointed Francis Zappa Koroma as head coach following the resignation of Coach Alhaji Abedi Foray on 22 June 2021 subsequently joining Bo Rangers as member of the technical team.
According to the release, Francis Zappa Koroma is expected to start work immediately after an official unveiling ceremony slated for Monday 6 September, 2021 at the Kenema City Field.
The former Diamond Stars coach who had also served as the Assistant Coach 1 for both U-17 and U-20 in 2017 and 2019-20 respectively at national level (Sierra Leone National Team) will take over a Kamboi Eagles side that are presently 14th in the SLPL table with eight points following a slow start to the season.
Before becoming a football coach, Zappa Koroma had an illustrious footballing career representing Sierra Leone 58 times, playing for Diamond Stars and East End Lions in the local leagues and also at national level. Coach Zappa also enjoyed his international career while playing in Sweden, Vietnam and The Gambia.
Koroma was part of the Leone Stars squad that won the Zone (2) tournament in Mauritania in 1995 and a year later represented Leone Stars at AFCON in 1996 in South Africa.
Coach Zappa Koroma is expected to be in the dugout for the first time with his new side against his former club Diamond Start in an Eastern derby contest as the premier league that was previously suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic will resume on 11 September 2021. With his wealth of experience in the Sierra Leone Premier League football fans Kamboi Eagles have the belief that he can take the team to the top and even won the Premier league.
Francis Zappa Koroma is an (A) License holder who served Diamond Stars as a coach and Freetown City Council Football club in the Sierra Leone Premier league.
