SAM SUMANA ACCUSED OF DISRUPTING PRIMARIES IN KONO

The former 2018 presidential candidate for the Coalition for Change (c4c) political party, Chief Alhaji Samuel Sam Sumana has been strongly accused by some residents of the Koidu municipality especially in kono district of fermenting chaos in the party.

Members of the main opposition party All Peoples Congress Party, allegedly disrupted the just suspend APC party primaries to elect members for their emergency delegates conference held in the district.

 According to some aggrieved members of the main opposition All peoples Congress Party who spoke to A-Z, they maintained that prior to the said suspended primaries’ to elect their members for the emergency delegates conference certain information was making the rounds in the district that the former 2018 presidential candidate for the c4c political party Chief Alhaji Samuel Sam Sumana plans to disrupt the delegates elections. 

The aggrieved members of the party further pointed out that the accusation of Chief Alhaji Samuel Sam Sumana`s agenda to disrupting the primaries to elect members for the emergency delegates conference was to a certain extent confirmed through mobile phone interview on radio new song FM 91.3mhz in Kono district.

 Honorable Rebecca Yei Kamara of the C4C political party had strictly advised their members to stay off the said primaries of the APC in the district as it was alleged by some of their members that their former political god father Chief Alhaji Samuel Sam Sumana told them to participate in the said political exercise of the main opposition APC.

The reported phone interview was conducted by the head of programs of the aforementioned radio station Peter Munda Stevens.

 “Owing to what we have explained and heard on the radio about the former 2018 presidential candidate of the C4C party to participate in our primaries which they are not registered members of the our party, we don’t have any iota of doubt that Chief Alhaji Sam Sumana disrupted our activity in kono district”, the distressed members said.

Whilst calling on the PPRC and other concerned players to look in to the said matter for possible solution, the aggrieved APC members have therefore warned Chief Alhaji Sam Sumana to totally stay off their activities while waiting for him to be reinstated as member of the All Peoples Congress.

Efforts by A-Z to contact the former candidate for the C4C party proved futile up to press time.
Meanwhile, in a separate but similar development the minority leader for the coalition for change party in the well of parliament Hon. Saa Emerson Lamina has in a press statement dated (1st) September 2021 unequivocally condemned the alleged actions of certain people believed to be members of the C4C to have participated in the just suspended APC party primaries in kono district.

Hon. Lamina in the press statement maintained that the C4C party is a respecter of democratic values and principles and will therefore not tolerate it members to interfere or undermine the activity or business of another political party, overtly or covertly.

The press statement furthered that the C4C party believes in democratic competition to win the hearts and minds of its compatriots and therefore to address the unfortunate occurrence the party will involve Article fifteen (15) of its constitution and implore the national co-ordaining committee(NCC) of the party to institute an immediate investigation into the reported allegations.

“Whilst awaiting the establishment of the NCC investigation panel, the C4C party wishes to disassociate itself from those members alleged to have involved in the APC party primaries until such a time when the investigation comes out with its finding”, the press statement stressed.

Concluding, the press statement has assured all and sundry that the party will not cover up its findings and will present it to the PPRC and the general public and that appropriate actions would be taken against any defaulter with the prescription’s outlined in Article 15 of the C4C party constitution.
