Over one billion Leones Larceny Suspect remanded

 Prosecution witness number two Sergeant 1516 Abu Conteh attached to the Criminal investigation department CID headquarters pademba road said his duties is to ensure the safe keeping of all exhibits brought to the office relating to case’s that have been reported and brought to the CID headquarters and to bring such exhibits in court when required.

 The witness said he was on duty on the 21st July 2021, whilst on duty at the said headquarters Sergeant 1681 Kargbo H.S attached at the anti- fraud unit handed over to him some items in respect of this matter.

The witness said such items includes one old black small purse,  one old Black diary one republic of Sierra Leone passport book bearing the name and photo of Cristabel Agness Siaffa, few assorted papers, thirty five Complimentary Cards, two identity cards for Siaffa Hawa, three motor drivers license one old white envelope and one plated earring alleged to be gold, twenty one passport pictures and one sealed envelope allegedly containing  diamonds all the items was registered on serial number 140/2021 since then all items was in his custody and it was tendered in court.

The three accused persons have made their fourth appearance before Magistrate Sahr Keikura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on two counts of Conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to law and Larceny contrary to Section 20 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the charge sheet it was alleged that the accused persons on Saturday 22nd May 2021 at Liverpool Street, Freetown, conspired with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit larceny and stole one Nissan Path Finder vehicle with Registration Number AKF 187, one Ladies Bag containing the sum of 2,500 United States Dollar in a white envelope equivalent to le26,000,000.00 another items all to the total cost of One Billion, One Hundred and Fifty One Million, Five Hundred and Sixty-Five Thousand Leones (Le 1.151,565,000.00), property of the said complainant Hawa Rosaline Siafa.

During their first appearance when the charges were read to all accused persons, the 1st accused pleaded guilty while the 2nd and 3rd pleaded not guilty.

Meanwhile Magistrate Kekura remanded the accused persons to the Male Correctional Centre and adjourned the matter to 31st August 2021.

The matter was prosecuted by Inspector I.G Fofanah and the accused persons were represented by Lawyer A.R Mansaray.
