Mohamed Saccoh and three others made another’s appearance before Magistrate Sahr Keikura of Pademba road court No. 1 in Freetown on eight count charges to wit Conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law, raining from forgery contrary to section 4 (1) of the forgery Act of 1913 and ranging from uttering forgery document contrary to section 6 (1) (2) of the forgery Act of 1913.
According to the charge sheet, it is stated that on the 16th day of July 2021at No. 1 Regent road crab town junction Lumley in Freetown conspired together with other persons unknown and with intent to defraud and Forged certain document to wit Sierra Leone national voter’s identity card with serial number 4116887 Omo Mahoi purported to have been prepared and signed by the commissioner of the national civil registration authority (NCRA) knowing same to be false.
First prosecution witness , Amadu W Jalloh attached to the economic financial unit CID Headquarters said he recognized all accused person’s and recalled on the 17th July 2021 while on duty a transfer and Inquiry files was brought from Lumley police station. He said the accused persons were charged with conspiracy to commit a felony to wit forgery. Witness said six suspects, six question statement, search warrants and exhibits, five alleged fake national id card, three alleged fake IPAM examination pass, three Black old CPU, one old Dell computer laptop, one old computer keyboard and it mouse, one old black monitor, quantity of A4 laminating pouches, one old blue and black techno spark Mobile phone, five old memory sticks including One memory card and a hard drive were tendered to him for further investigation.
Pw1 said the exhibits were handed over to the exhibits clerk for safe keeping.
He produces and tendered the said search warrants and question statement for the accused.
Explaining further PW1 said on the 20th July 2021 he obtained additional statement from the accused separately and he was assisted by his colleague Detective Inspector SK Mansaray, adding that on the 22nd July 2021 a request was written for the examination of the said old Black and blue techno spark Mobile phone, and one old black computer laptop to the Cyber unit.
At this stage, Magistrate Kekura ordered for adjournment for the witness to continue his testimony, in that light, Defense Lawyer I Macfoy applied for bail for and on behalf of all accused person’s to be admitted he made the application pursuant to section 79 of the Criminal Procedure Act no.32 of 1965.
Having heard his bail plea, Magistrate Kekura admitted all accused person’s on bail in the sum of Le 100 million Leones each Plus one surety who should be gainfully employed in a recognized institution they should also be elderly and responsible citizens and they should be permanently resident in the western area bail condition to be approved by the deputy assistant registrar.
Matter was adjourned to the 24th August 2022. While ASP Aminatu Daboh prosecuting the matter.
