The National Fire Force Kono branch Commanding Officer Dornal Nicol has said that illegal electricity connections are on the increase in Tankoro Chiefdom Koidu city, Kono District. The National Fire Force Kono District Boss made the pronouncement when responding to the question regarding what was the cause of the fire outbreak in one of the houses in Konoboy Saquee Street in Koidu city.
According to him, the cause of the said fire accident that completely burnt down one of the dwelling houses at Kono boy Saquee Street in Koidu city was as a result of poor and illegal electricity connections, as the occupant of where the fire broke out left his electrical device on. He added that as a result the overflow of the electrical power by then caught fire and burnt the whole house.
Donald Nicol has therefore strictly warned all and sundry especially those in need of electrical power to hire professionals for their connections as substandard electrical materials and poor or illegal connections are good conductors for fire outbreaks.
Meanwhile, the said intervention by the National Fire force Kono branch to put out the reported fire accident saw the damage of the fire engine by some youths who were initially arrested but have been granted bail and have been helping the police in their investigation.
The said branch of the National Fire Force is presently embarking on fire sensitization and fire extinguisher installation within the municipality of Koidu for seven hundred and fifty thousand Leones (Le 750,000).
Mr. Nicol has pleaded with all and sundry to promptly report to his office whenever there is a fire outbreak instead of using unprofessional means to put out fire.
