55 Graduates At WODA In Kono District

The Nimiyama chiefdom speaker chief Philip Musa Koroma who also doubles as the manager Women’s Development Association TECH. VOC. PRE and primary school at Jaiama  Sewage in Nimiyama chiefdom Kono district has said that proper discipline is the bedrock for child bearing.

Chief Koroma made the pronouncement during the first ever graduation ceremony of at least fifty five (55) grandaunts from the Nursery and TECH. VOC . Departments of the aforementioned Association held at the Association grounds Sewafe town in Nimiyama chiefdom Kono district on 11th March 2023.

 In his statement the guest speaker of the ceremony chief Philip Musa Koroma appealed to men to do justice to the young girls by investing in their educational pursuit rather than sexually abusing them which he noted is now the order of the day.

He further explained how he has invested in his wife whom she picked from nowhere but is now serving as the head mistress of the aforementioned schools in Sewafe town Nimiyama chiefdom Kono district.

He intimated the audience that the said TECH. VOC .started with only gara tying and dying with his personal resources.

Owing to the developments of the association over the years the Nimiyama chiefdom speaker and manager of WODA chief Koroma disclosed plans of supporting the establishment of a junior Secondary school as WODA he maintained is a blessed Association and founded by blessed people.

He implored the grandaunts to make good use of their certificates for others to follow suit for the betterment of themselves, the district and the country as a whole.

Explaining brief history about the aforementioned schools the head mistress Sia Betty Koroma foremost thanked her husband chief Philip Musa Koroma for the establishment of the schools and the TECH. VOC.thereby describing him as the backbone for the running of the schools and TECH. VOC. Since they were officially opened to date and urged him not to relent.

She pointed out that the TECH. VOC.and schools now have at least thirteen (13) teachers ten on pay roll whilst three are in different colleges for training.

According to her, the TECH VOC was officially commissioned in 2002 while the primary school was opened in 2007 noting that both the institutions are well approved and urged all and sundry to make good use of them for the purpose of becoming self-reliant.

Concluding Madam Sia Betty Koroma appreciated all for supporting the schools and TECH VOC.and disclosed plans for the establishment of a junior Secondary school in the not too distant future.

Brima Kandeh representative of the proprietress of the aforementioned schools and TECH VOC madam Martha C Kanagbo thanked the head mistress for a job well done and urged her to do more.

He pleaded with the unskilled to enroll at the institute to capacitate themselves.

 Mr Kandeh intimated the audience that Kono is the first district that has hosted the branch of WODA and pledged the proprietress’ unflinching support for the success of the branch under review.

Representing the Sierra Leone Teachers Union (SLTU) Nimiyama chiefdom branch Yayah Jabbie commended the administration of WODA for having thirteen teachers with only three not approved or on pay roll.

He underscored the watch word or theme of the graduation ceremony which is “There is power in finishing” Mr Jabbie appealed to the grandaunts  to make good use of their certificates so that the unskilled will follow suit for the betterment of the chiefdom, Kono district and the country as a whole. Grace Kamanda is the national president TECH. VOC, when making a statement she foremost underscored the importance of skill training noting  that education is self-empowerment and as a result she expects all and sundry to make good use of their hands to change the narrative of unemployment in the country.

Statements were also made by one of the board and SMC chairmen Christopher Kamanda, former inspector of schools in Kono district Fudi Daboh , coordinator Women’s world pst  Isrella Musa and a representative of the parents Christiana Gandi .

The graduation ceremony was chaired by Rebecca Bundor kallon.

A Thanksgiving service at the Holy Ghost church in Sewafe town and a match pass with at least three brass bands in attendance climaxed the ever first graduation ceremony organized by WODA in Nimiyama chiefdom Kono district
