The Tankoro Police Divisional Headquarters in Kono District has rescued 23 foreign nationals who were allegedly trapped in a building in Koidu City in connection with suspected QNET operations.
The discovery was made on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, following a tip-off that prompted a swift police operation led by Support Officer ASP Dauda Amara Sanu.
Preliminary findings indicate that the foreign nationals were brought into Sierra Leone from Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea and other locations on the alleged promise of being transported to France and other overseas destinations.
Police sources further indicate that the individuals were accommodated at different locations within the Fire Force area in Koidu City.
Police have since arrested one suspected operative who was allegedly hosting the victims, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspected collaborators.
The 23 individuals, who were reportedly exhausted at the time of the operation, have been taken to the Tankoro Police Divisional Headquarters for questioning and further fact-finding as investigations continue.
The matter is being closely monitored by the Local Unit Commander of the Tankoro Police Station, CSP Dr. Sahr Nyuma.
