A 17-year-old pupil, Prince French, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 after appearing before the court on a charge of housebreaking and larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act, 1916.
According to the prosecution, on 26 June 2026, at No. 5 Hill Cut Road in Freetown, the defendant allegedly broke into the dwelling house of Hassan Elish Conteh and stole one pair of crepe shoes and NLe5,380 in cash, with the total value of the stolen property estimated at NLe5,730.
When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken because the matter is before the court for committal proceedings.
The prosecutor, DPC 18456 Linda Teh, informed the court that the defendant had been served copies of the case file and the inquiry file.
The defendant acknowledged receipt of the documents.
Magistrate Jah refused bail and ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown pending further proceedings.
The matter was adjourned to 6 July 2026.
