A 25-year-old contractor, Samuel Kamara, has been committed to stand trial before the High Court by the Principal Magistrate of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown, Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah, on a charge of robbery with aggravation.

The defendant was alleged to have robbed Charles Robbin on Thursday, 8th October 2026, at the Wilberforce Municipal School Field in Freetown.

According to the prosecution, Kamara allegedly attacked the complainant by striking him on the head with an unidentified weapon before making away with his wallet and other personal belongings.

The defendant is facing one count of robbery with aggravation, contrary to Section 23(1) (a) of the Larceny Act of 1916, as re-enacted and replaced by Section 2 of Act No. 16 of 1971.

According to the particulars of the offence, the defendant allegedly stole several items belonging to the complainant, including a wallet valued at Le150, a driving licence valued at Le2, 500, a National Identification Card valued at Le150, and a voter’s identification card valued at Le400.

Other items allegedly stolen included US$400, equivalent to Le9,600, cash amounting to Le400, a Samsung A17 mobile phone valued at Le9,000, and an iPhone 12 Pro Max valued at Le15,000.

The total value of the alleged stolen property was put at Le36, 800.

In his committal ruling, Magistrate Jah stated that, having considered the evidence presented by the prosecution, he was satisfied that sufficient evidence had been established to warrant committing the defendant to the High Court for trial.

He subsequently committed Samuel Kamara to stand trial before the High Court and refused bail pending the hearing and determination of the matter.

Inspector M. K. Taylor prosecuted the case.
