Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 has sentenced 10 accused persons to one-month imprisonment each for the offence of Idle and Disorderly Conduct, contrary to Section 7 of the Public Order Act No. 6 of 1965. One additional accused person was remanded at the Male Correctional Facility, pending trial.
According to the particulars of the offence, the accused persons Alusine Kamara, Abdul Ishmael Kamara, Mohamed Bilah Jalloh, Mohamed Fornah, Mohamed Kallon, Alphajor Bah, James Mansaray, Ansumana Turay, Abdulai Sama Kallon, Ahmed Sesay, and Lowrence Golia—were arrested in the Lumley area of Freetown, where they were allegedly found loitering and behaving in a disorderly manner.
When the charges were read and explained, one of the accused persons pleaded guilty, while ten others pleaded not guilty.
The case was prosecuted by Ziza Esq., and none of the accused persons were represented by legal counsel.
After hearing the prosecution’s submission and mitigation pleas from accused persons 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11excluding the second accused personMagistrate Jah sentenced them to one month of imprisonment.
The second accused, who pleaded not guilty, was remanded to the Pademba Road Male Correctional Facility pending further proceedings.
