The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Zone two former Chairmen in Koakoyima town, Tankoro chiefdom, Kono District, Samuel Tamba Nyama has expressed dismay over the outcome of the recent zonal elections that was held at the Koakoyima town Barray. He was reflecting on the factors accounting for his defeat.
He maintained that his defeat cannot be unconnected with an alleged bribe which he said was accepted by some organizers and officials of the elections. He pointed accusing fingers at constituency 029 chairlady, Sarah Kallon serving as returning officer of the aforesaid zonal election.
A representative from the Political Party Registration Commission (PPRC) Kono Office, Alimamy Jalloh said, due to his frantic monitoring of the electioneering process in the utilization of money provided for the conduct of elections, Baba Kallon, Sarrah Kallon and Nyadimoh developed malice and ganged against him during the past elections.
The returning officers, Madam Kallon, Alimamy Kallon and others however denied knowledge of the former zone two (2) chairman insisting that the election was free and fair. They therefore noted that the elections were not only conducted for zone two at the Koakoyima Barray, but eight zones were captured.
The SLPP Kono district Publicity Secretary, Komba Michael Fonjah told our reporter that the elections were conducted in the correct way as mandated. He added that he has been on the radio explaining to the general public his party’s membership about the necessary steps or ways of the zonal, constituency, district and national elections or conventions needed to be followed.
In his post-election remarks, the zone two newly elected Chairman Abu Bakarr Doa, started by thanking God Almighty for his victory. He appreciated his supporters for voting him as their chairman and promised to work with them at all times. He further encouraged his opponents to forget about the past as he was ready and willing to work with them for the overall growth of the zone (2) area and the party as a whole.
